Hey, itâs Rafic.
Welcome back to this weekâs edition of Peak Performance Insider.
Letâs talk about something we all know mattersâŚ
But often put off until itâs too late:
Relationships.
Not networking.
Not surface-level connections.
Iâm talking about real, trust-based relationships. The kind that help you lead better, perform better, and feel like youâre not carrying it all alone.
At the core of every high-performing team, every smooth operation, every influential leaderâŚ
Youâll find strong relationships.
Whether you're managing up, working cross-functionally, or leading people, relationships are the hidden lever that makes hard things easier and big things possible.
And yet⌠we forget how much they matter.
I learned this the hard way when I was leading operations across North America, remotely.
I was doing good work. Delivering results.
But I felt invisible. My peers in the office got more face time, more feedback, more recognition.
That was hard to swallow.
It taught me that being great at what you do isnât enough.
People need to see you.
Trust you.
Remember you.
That kind of trust is built over time, not when you suddenly need something, but when you consistently show up and care.
This week, Iâm breaking down how to build professional relationships that actually move the needle, without pretending to be someone youâre not.
đ Todayâs agenda:
â
What I learned about trust, visibility, and connection, while feeling overlooked
â
A real-world playbook for building stronger relationships at work
â
Simple ways to show up for others, without needing to force anything

âď¸ Deep Dive: Strong Relationships Start Before You âNeedâ Them
If people donât trust you, they wonât go out of their way for you.
Not your boss. Not your peers. Not your team.
You might be the hardest worker in the roomâŚ
But if your relationships are weak, your progress will stall.
Hereâs whatâs worked for me, and for the leaders I coach.
đ§ The Playbook â Build Trust Without Faking It
Forget networking. Forget forced small talk.
This is about showing up consistently in small, thoughtful ways.
1ď¸âŁ Donât Wait Until You Need Something
Relationships that are only activated when you need help? People feel that.
Start early. Keep a pulse. Stay in touchâespecially when thereâs nothing you need.
Thatâs what makes the difference when the pressureâs on.
2ď¸âŁ Be Human, Not Strategic
We overthink it:
What if I say the wrong thing? What if they ignore me?
Iâve been there. Sent the message. Got no reply.
Started spiralingâthinking I said the wrong thing, that it was me.
But I followed up. They replied.
And now weâre working together.
Donât let fear stop you from reaching out.
Show up. Follow through. Thatâs what matters.
3ď¸âŁ Recognition Builds Trust
Donât underestimate what it means to say:
âHey, I saw what you did last week. That was solid. You handled it like a pro.â
Specific. Personal. Timely.
That kind of feedback builds trust and loyaltyâmore than any performance bonus ever could.
4ď¸âŁ Curiosity Beats Charisma
You donât need to be smooth. You just need to care.
Ask people what drives them. Why they do what they do.
When they tell you their name, remember it.
I train at a gym with over 200+ members, and the owner remembers everyoneâs name.
No app. No spreadsheet. Just genuine care.
People donât forget how you made them feel.
Thatâs what sticks.
5ď¸âŁ Use the 1-1-1 Rule
Once a week, pick one person to:
â Check in with
â Help in a small way (share a tool, connect them, offer support)
â Shout out or acknowledge
Thatâs it.
Keep it simple. Make it consistent.
Youâd be surprised how far it goes over time.

âĄď¸ Work With Me
If your role depends on trust, alignment, and support, and you're:
â Tired of doing it all solo
â Looking to grow your leadership without burning out
â Unsure how to navigate through and deepen the right relationships
đ Letâs talk. Book a 1:1 strategy session here.

đŻ That's a Wrap
đ Your Relationship Challenge This Week:
1ď¸âŁ Start a convo with someone youâve been meaning to check in with
2ď¸âŁ Acknowledge someoneâs effort this week, publicly or privately
3ď¸âŁ Reach out to someone before you need anything
Real relationships arenât built in the rush.
Theyâre built in the quiet, consistent moments, when nothingâs on the line.
See you next Monday.
