Hey, itâs Rafic.
Welcome back to Peak Performance Insider.
If last week was about rest, this week is about something closely connected:
Choice.
Not the big dramatic choices â those are easy to spot.
But the quiet ones:
Saying yes when you donât have the capacity.
Carrying things you never meant to carry.
Agreeing out of habit, pressure, guilt, or convenience.
Holding onto roles, tasks, and expectations that no longer fit.
The truth is simple:
You canât create space for the life you want
if you keep filling it with things you donât.
As the year winds down, your energy is already stretched.
Your mind is full.
Your calendar is probably heavier than usual.
This isnât the moment to take on more.
This is the moment to choose with intention.

âď¸ Deep Dive: The Courage to Choose
Most people think overwhelm comes from doing too much.
But more often, it comes from carrying too much â
things you agreed to months ago,
things that no longer align,
things that drain you but feel âeasierâ to keep than release.
This is what I call the invisible weight:
-
The commitment you said yes to without thinking
-
The project you outgrew but still feel responsible for
-
The expectations you absorbed from others
-
The role you keep playing because itâs familiar
-
The guilt that makes you say yes even when you mean no
The weight isnât physical â itâs mental, emotional, energetic.
And you feel it most at the end of the year.
Hereâs the part people misunderstand:
Saying no isnât rejection.
Itâs alignment.
A clear no creates space.
A thoughtful no protects your energy.
A timely no opens room for the right yes later.
And every time you choose with intention, you strengthen the voice inside you that says:
Matter to yourself, too.
Boundaries arenât about keeping people out.
Theyâre about keeping your best self intact.
đ§ Try This Week: 3 Ways to Choose What Actually Matters
1ď¸âŁ The âIs This Mine?â Check
When something lands on your plate â a request, a task, a responsibility â pause and ask:
Is this mine to carry?
Not:
⢠Should I be able to handle this?
⢠Will they be upset if I donât?
⢠How quickly can I squeeze this in?
Just:
Is this actually mine?
If itâs not, release it or redirect it.
2ď¸âŁ The Decision Filter for 2026
Before committing to anything for next year, run it through two questions:
Does this support who I want to become?
Does this fit the life Iâm trying to build?
If the answer is cloudy, pay attention â misalignment often shows up as hesitation.
3ď¸âŁ The Three Releases Before January
Write down three things youâre no longer carrying into the new year:
A habit
A role
A project
A responsibility
A silent yes
A mental load
A guilt
An expectation
These are not resolutions.
Theyâre releases.
Sometimes subtracting one thing does more for your clarity than adding five.

đŻ That's a Wrap
December is loud.
Everything pulls at your attention.
But your clarity comes from what youâre willing to put down â
not what you keep picking up.
So this week:
Choose with intention.
Protect your energy.
Let clarity guide your yes and your no.
Your future self will thank you.
See you next Monday,
â Rafic Osseiran
